A cabinet has to do more than fill a wall. It needs to hold the things you use, keep them within reach, and leave enough room for doors, drawers and people to move.

Start with what you need to store and what frustrates you about the space today. The conversation can then get specific: overall dimensions, the arrangement inside, the way it opens, and how the finish will sit alongside the rest of the room.

Edges, handles, sheen and the way neighboring surfaces meet shape the finished result. Bring a reference if there is a detail you want to get across.

Do I need drawings or exact measurements?

No finished drawing is needed for an initial conversation. Rough dimensions and clear photos help explain the idea. Measurements used to plan or make a piece need to be checked before the scope is finalized.

What if I have a photo of something I like?

Bring it, and say what appeals to you: the proportions, storage arrangement, material, finish or a particular detail. A reference explains the direction; it doesn't establish whether that exact design can be reproduced.

What affects the price?

Dimensions, materials, hardware, finish, complexity and the agreed delivery or installation scope all matter. Set out what is included before comparing prices. If you have a budget in mind, mention it early so it can inform the conversation.

Can I ask about installation as well?

Include any installation needs when describing the project. Who handles that work, site preparation and any related trades must be confirmed as part of the scope. Don't assume those items are included in a quote for a piece.
